Driving from Malaga
you need to
follow the N340 towards Motril
and Almeria.
The motorway takes you beyond Nerja
where the scenic Costa
Tropical really begins. After La Herradura, Almuņecar,
and Salobreņa,
the road passes Motril and the small resorts of Torrenueva and
Calahonda before reaching Castell de Ferro.
From Almeria airport,
follow the same N340 motorway heading west towards Motril and
Malaga. The motorway extends to Adra at present and from here the
coastal route to Castell de Ferro is straightforward.
Air conditioned
coaches also run between Malaga and Almeria airports throughout the
day. Most of these stop at Castell de Ferro, but some terminate at
Motril.
We generally meet new
guests in the village plaza in Castell de Ferro to guide them up to
Cortijo Vacas Gordas (it's not so easy to find the first time!)
If you prefer not to
hire a car or use the public transport services, we can pick you up
from the airport for an additional fee.
The map
below shows the N-340 with the pointing
roughly to where we are.
