What We Offer

Cortijo Vacas Gordas is owned and run by Christine Hartley and Walter Truscott.  They are your hosts, helping to make sure that you get the most out of your stay. Christine teaches yoga and exercise classes and creates all the home-cooked food. Walter co-ordinates activities and transport, offering local guided walks.

Christine has worked in education for over 20 years. She started her career as a dance teacher in mainstream schools, then worked for the Spastics Society as a dance and drama lecturer in a post-16 college. This laid the foundation for a move into adult education, where she managed visual/expressive and creative arts & crafts courses. An important part of her work was the organisation of European travel for students with learning disabilities, continued now at Cortijo Vacas Gordas.

Walter is a landscape architect with a strong interest in environmental issues. He managed his own consultancy in the UK for 15 years before working as a director of SGS, the worldwide inspection and testing organisation.

He currently provides a landscape and gardening consultancy service for a range of  clients in the Granada province.
